Back at it again—fresh out of the Bahamas with my PR friends at @AstraToy! I can honestly say I am tan AF and terrified to land back in New York where it is expected to be 29°F tomorrow. Yikes!!!
While I have your undivided attention, I just want to make one very pitchy comment about the AI news that’s taking over the internet: I’m over it; it’s bullshit; I’ll be damned before a robot takes my job.
Sh*t the paying pitches got
Keep reading for how I feel about being asked to add something to a story after it’s published, the god’s honest truth about following up, and the #1 thing you shouldn’t do when pitching me.

Each of these newsletters for paid pitches includes a lot more content and a lot more of my mindless musings—including what I’m working on this week.
Free tip of the week
You may hate this tip but still, I stand by it: Press trips are the best way to forge quality, loyalty-driven industry relationships.
It’s about the long game, my friends. The long game.
Do I want to travel for free? Who doesn’t? Is that why I attend press trips? No! I attend them—as most writers do—to get quality content, learn the lay of the land, and to solidify important relationships with others in the industry. That goes for publicists and writers alike.
I have a wide open ear to the publicists I’ve gone on trips with—regardless of what they pitch. Does it always immediately convert to an article? No, but again, long game. And again, it’s about solidifying relationships. Since we went on a boatride in the boondocks of the Carolinas together, clutching onto each other for dear life as it skipped over waves and went way too fast, your emails have my attention. It’s the least I can do.
In the same vein, I love my industry writer-friends who I’ve gone on trips with, too. Do I send them emails about different gig opps? Of course. Do I recommend them to my own editors? 100%. Do I take their advice seriously? Absa-fucking-lutely.
What I’m sourcing for next week~
I’m sourcing experts and products on the following topics:
Here’s What Biologists Say About the Possibility of ‘The Last of Us’ Fungus Happening in Real Life (Parade): Do you rep a biologist? A doctor with a biology-adjacent degree? An expert in fungi? Parade.com wants to know if the fungus from ‘The Last of Us’ is a realistic thing that could happen.
Best Food Processor/Blender Combos (Culinary Hill): Do you rep a food-processor-slash-blender or -immersion-blender hybrid? I’m reviewing/ranking them for the food blog Culinary Hill, so be sure to reach out with product information. Make sure ‘Food Processor/Blender’ is in the subject line.
31 Plants You Can Grow in a Hydroponic Garden: I feel like this explains itself but email if you have questions.
Streaming Workouts (Parade): Still updating this article with free streaming workouts available at home.
Feel free to email me if you have any relevant contributions to the above assignments.
