Plus, a collage of things I am into on a personal level—no pp or industry tie whatsoever, just an unabashed happiness collage
I’ll spare you the bad “prime”-related puns that didn’t really work the first time I drafted them, and surely won’t now. I have been saying this for a long time, but I’m working with mush here, guys. I can’t say for certain when it started, but it’s getting beyond the point where “pregnancy brain” or “mom brain”—two phrases I banned from this house until I realized how much leeway they bought me with family members—suffice. I don’t know if it’s staring at multiple screens all day ery’day for more than a decade or if it’s the reality of living in this world right now, but I feel I’m working with the minimum amount of brain cells at all times. I can’t remember shit anymore, and I spend most of my time writing and re-writing things in my head that never end up on a page. (I’ve drafted this post 3,000 times already, most often at 3 in the morning.) But it’s Prime Day, so let’s make other people money!
In an effort to put more… effort… into Notes, I’ve been keeping a sort of Substack diary about my work week. Sometimes personal life bleeds into it, of course—like the 13 days I spent abroad eating my body weight in European butter—but I’ve spent the past couple of weeks documenting a sort of “day in the life” account summed up in a few sparkle-emoji bullet points. If you’ve been reading those, you already know that 90% of those glitter bullets are about prime day. It’s coming, it’s back, whatever and however you want to say it. Our lives are revolving around Amazon even more than usual.
For e-commerce writers, it’s the most important “week” of the year. And yes, I put it above the holiday season.
Prime Day this year—I’m sure you’ve heard—is a four-day event. For writers, it’s really a five-day event because of all the prep that goes into making the four-day event actually happen. And with as little-to-no typos/misinformation as possible. It’s a lot more planning than even those five days, so really, it’s a million-day event screams internally, and we’re all already exhausted and it’s only mid-June. Anywhoooooo, all that precipitous planning means I already know what I’m looking for. And maybe you’re the publicist that has it.
What I’m looking to feature this prime day:
🛍️General home deals (kitchen, patio/garden, outdoor furniture with a sprinkle of Amazon fashion)
🛍️ Vacuums
🛍️50% off or higher
🛍️ Last chance deals that end over the weekend (before Monday the 14th)
Unfortunately, I don’t consider pitches that fall into the health, wellness, or food categories. I don’t really do beauty coverage either; fashion has to be Amazon available only.
I want to hear from you (as I’ve heard from no one so far) in the PP chat ⬇️ How many pitches do you send on average? Inquiring minds (me) wanna know.
And to better inform your forthcoming pitches, here are a few things I’ve been working on lately at BHG:
