Oh, I get it: You’ve seen a recently published article that would totally be a fit for a brand or product you rep. “A Valentine’s Day Gift Guide for Kids” and then you realize you rep a child’s PJ brand that just launched a collection with hearts all over it. Match made in V-Day Heaven, right?
Wrong.
Here’s the thing: I👏🏼do👏🏼not👏🏼get👏🏼paid👏🏼for👏🏼updates.
I don’t!
OK, wait a sec—sometimes I do. But here’s the difference: When that V-Day Gift Guide for Kids is a year old, in 2024, then I’ll get paid to overhaul the piece.
Why? Because it’s been up for a year and tons of the links are broken, products don’t exist anymore, or they’re out of stock. Only then do I get to charge a fee—a nominal one at that—for updating a piece with new products and links.
I do not, however, get paid to slide your brand into the already-published piece on a Thursday when the piece went live the Tuesday before.
