In this space, you see a lot of “what I’m working on,” “what I’m sourcing” content, but speaking from experience, I’ve often found “what not to do”s to be even more helpful at times.
As you can imagine, I get a lot of pitches. Most writers do, and I’ve never been a math girlie, but I’d guess that 70 percent of them are not a fit.
You have to know your audience, right? We’ve heard that a million times before, whether that’s in book-writing, poetry, or even TikTok content. Who is your audience? What do they want to see? and How do you most effectively talk to them?
Publicists should operate with similar thinking. For which publications does your writer write? who do they speak/write to or for? What content are they looking for?
But again, sometimes asking, What are they not looking for? can be even more helpful.
More on that below, but first, my free pitches need some lovin’ too. What kind of Head Pitch in Charge would I be if I kept sourcing and my recently published posts beyond the paywall?
What I’m sourcing~
I’m not sourcing anything right now because I’m swamped. I will take any upcoming sales/deals though, specifically for Prime Big Deals Day.
